Indoor lighting for your home decor spaces

When it comes to home decor, we tend to focus on the main pieces in any space: the couch, the coffee table, the accent chair. But there is a home decor element that can dramatically change the atmosphere of a room—and it's often overlooked! That element is indoor lighting! Indoor lighting can be used in a variety of ways. It can be subtle or make an impact. It can be functional or purely decorative. The right indoor lighting will have you seeing your home decor spaces in a whole new light (pun intended).

What kind of lighting is right for your space?

Now that you have a sense of color, let's talk about lighting.

When looking for indoor lighting for your home decor spaces, consider the following:

  • Do you want to highlight an object? If so, choose a spotlight or directional light source.

  • Are there certain areas of your space that you'd like to draw attention? If so, look at how you can use wall sconces and pendants as accent pieces.

  • Are there specific colors or patterns in your space (like flowers or artwork) that would be enhanced by adding some bright colors? Notice where these would work best within the room and think about how they'll enhance the overall design.

Wall Sconces

Wall Sconces

There are many different styles of wall sconces available, but the most common is a simple design that mounts to your wall with three or four screws. These are great for illuminating hallways and entrances, where they can be seen as you enter a room. If you have an older home or one with traditional architecture, these are also an ideal choice because they match the style of most homes and lend an elegant look to any room.

A more modern option is a floor lamp that sits on its own base rather than being attached to the wall. This type of light fixture is perfect for illuminating corners of your living room or dining room when used with two-seater tables or couches (see picture). These lamps are also good choices if you want some extra lighting in your bedroom without having to add another overhead fixture like in other rooms.

Candle Lanterns and Candle Holders

Candles are a staple of any home decor. They're a classic, timeless way to add warmth and ambiance to any space. The right candle can truly set the mood in your home, but if you want to create a cozy ambiance in all rooms of your house, you'll need more than just one or two candles.

Candle lanterns and holders are perfect for creating an intimate atmosphere in bedrooms and living rooms alike. Whether you're lighting them with tea lights or larger pillar candles, these items will add extra light without taking up too much space on tables or mantels. Candles also make excellent birthday gifts for friends who enjoy spending time indoors—especially during cold winters when outdoor activities are limited!

Pendant lights

Pendant lights can be used in any room of the house, but they work particularly well in dining rooms, kitchens and living rooms. They're also great for highlighting artwork or other pieces that you want to showcase. In the kitchen, pendant lights are a beautiful way to add some light to your counter tops if there isn't enough natural light coming through your windows.

Indoor lighting can add atmosphere to your home decor spaces.

Lighting is an important part of any space. It can change the look and feel of your home decor, so it’s worth investing in good lighting. You can choose from a range of different types of indoor lighting depending on what you need for your space.

The right lights will make a big difference to the overall appeal of your room. To get started, think about how much natural light there is in each area and whether you want more or less light than this.

The purpose of your lighting is to create atmosphere in a space by focusing attention on the area you want to highlight. The key to creating a calming, cozy vibe at home with indoor lights is knowing what kind of light works best for each room and where to place it.
